Seller's Description
This 2020 Ford Transit High Roof Extended camper is for sale! Featuring a full size bed, complete kitchen with propane stove, composting toilet, robust solar-powered electrical system and enough storage space to fit bikes, skis and more.
This is a single owner cargo van that I purchased new and personally converted with professional and expert help. It is designed for 2 people to comfortably live full-time, but great as anything from a solo mobile home to a weekend adventure vehicle. It has been maintained with care and is in excellent condition with only ~20k miles. I enjoyed an amazing cross-country journey living full-time in the van and it served me well; now that I am off the road I am ready to find a new owner.
The buildout was designed to be lightweight, spacious and functional, with an emphasis on comfort and ease of living. Over the course of 10,000 miles, fully loaded, the van averaged 16.5 mpg. The alley is plenty wide for two people to move around each other and can double as an additional sleeping space (wide enough for a standard sleeping pad), the slider door opening is spacious and serves as a loveseat with a view. Most importantly for tall people, the high roof van and low profile buildout allows anyone 6’3”+ to stand up comfortably and sit up straight in bed.
Another focus of the build was the ability to “boondock” for extended periods of time. The solar panels provide plenty of juice to keep the batteries topped off daily, with shore power and alternator charging as backups, though I never needed these. The power consumption is low with efficient appliances and LEDs, I regularly used less than 15% of the battery capacity in a day, even with the fridge/freezer running full time. The 20 gallon water tank can last quite a while, as the foot pump faucet helps conserve water. Last, the composting toilet gives you comfort and luxury no matter where you are. All of this to say a week or longer without refilling on food, fuel or water was easily achievable.
The van is well suited for winter conditions with excellent all terrain tires, floor to ceiling insulation, custom window covers and an easy to use, highly efficient Espar heater that is fueled directly from the 31 gallon gas tank, with a built-in altitude adjustment system. You can control the temperature with a thermostat or set up a heating schedule. I have spent nights at 10,000 feet -15F while comfortably warm.
On the flip side, the van stays cool in warmer climates. The white exterior color limits heating from the sun, the insulation works well to keep heat out, and there is excellent airflow with the bedside window, rooftop MaxxAir Fan, and Sirocco gimbaled fan, making for comfortable nights in the desert without the power consumption of an air conditioner.
Another key feature of this build is a functional kitchen with tons of countertop space. No need to extend a table or put a cutting board over the sink hole. You can easily fit everything you need for an extensive meal, cooked on the two burner propane stove. The best part, the countertop is butcher block that is food safe - do all your cutting right there and when you’re done you can clean up right into the spacious undermount sink. The propane is in a sealed, vented locker and there is a monitor for carbon monoxide and gas.
Last, there is tons of space for gear storage. Under the lofted bed, the “garage” is equipped to fit bikes with up to 29” wheels, snowboards/skis, camping equipment, you name it! The internal cabinets (both below the counter and up top) provide plenty of space for pantry items, clothing, and any additional gear. Plus, there is a ton of space next to the bed. This open layout avoids the cramped space you will find with many other campers and you won’t need to skimp on what you bring with you.
This campervan has been built to last, with attention to detail and meticulous records kept. Electrical schematic available, complete purchase history and component list with all manuals, along with a photo journal detailing the build. It has been road tested through several months of full time living with improvements made along the way. If you are looking for a road ready solution this is perfect for you. It was designed to be modular and can easily be further customized to your liking. I am willing to implement additions at cost, for example, a hot water heater could be installed for an outdoor shower, or the electrical system could be expanded. Price negotiable for the right buyer.
